Right.
Just when August had a free day off of her own.
Well, that didnât mean she couldnât have some of her own fun, right?
August had just entered a 3-day break from work, and originally, she had planned to meet up with a woman named Felicity that would repeatedly come by to drop her âbrotherâ off at Augustâs summercamp for Legends. But Felicity seemed to have some sort of interest in August, and would repeatedly try to make arrangements to spend time together â unfortunately, August was often too busy or too tired after work to follow up on any of these.
She felt bad, because from the times they had talked, Felicity was someone August wanted to spend more time with, too. It was too bad, she thought, but decided that it was better to take advantage of her location instead of moping too much.
For August was in Mauville City for something work-related after her break was over, and Mauville was one of Hoennâs larger cities, with a particularly active nightlife.
Within walking distance of where she was staying, Felicity found a lesbian adult club that had ok drink prices with good reviews â and that was enough for her.
Walking down the street on a Friday night in Mauville was quite different than it was in Lavaridge â lots of cars, lots of bright signage for various establishments open late. August could only see a few stars in the sky, among the lights of planes far above.
There was a slight cool breeze, but that brisk feeling all but went away as August made her way into the club.
She had her ID checked, and though she knew it was obligatory for them to ID all patrons, she still thought it would be funny if she could ever pass for being under 18.
Through a curtain she went, and quickly, it hit August that this was a bit more than a meetup spot.
Poles on the stage and dancers showing their best, August realized that maybe she should have read the clubâs description a bit better. Though, it wasnât something she was uncomfortable with, per say â she was just a bit surprised it existed.
Nonetheless, August made her way to the bar to take advantage of happy hour prices.
It was a bit lonely, with the other women already preoccupied in conversation with their partners or the performers. The bartender did try to make conversation, but she was too busy hopping between the patrons to really say anything substantial.
With lack of ample discussion, Augustâs eyes drifted to the stage. There were three women performing, and their acrobatics were quite impressive â at least in Augustâs eyes. Sheâd always been more of a heavy lifting type as opposed to a flexible one.
With the bright lights of the club, most of Augustâs attention was drawn to the skimpy outfits the dancers wore â being made of a material that reflected the colorful lights in a rainbow.
Her eyes drifted, admiring the dancerâs physiques and⌠assets. But as her eyes drifted upwards on a particular dancer, she couldnât help but notice a familiarity.
And, it would seem that dancer noticed the familiarity in August too â as they locked eye contact, and Felicityâs face went aghast.
In a matter of seconds, her perfectly poised walk wobbled, and she fell painfully as her long heels betrayed her.
August didnât know where the instinct came from, but she bolted upright and ran over to the stage out of worry. The bartender also left her post to check on Felicity.
âOuch, I told you those heels were risky! Are you alright?â the bartender asked, as Felicity held her lower leg.
Felicity unburied her face to answer to bartender, but upon seeing August close behind, she turned beet red and stammered.
âFelicity? Whatâs wrong? Is it broken?â the bartender asked again, only for August to speak up from behind her.
âExcuse meâŚâ she started.
âItâs⌠my fault, I think.â
âItâs not your fault!!â Felicity suddenly exclaimed, her face engulfed in a blush.
The bartender took a second to assess the situation, before gaining a sly smile.
âHaha, alright! Why donât you take 15 Felicity, if your ankle doesnât feel better, we can call someone.â she said with a smirk.
âI should be heading back to the bar now, just let me know!â
Before Felicity or August could say anything in response, the bartender did a half-jog back to the bar, to frantically start attending to orders again.
But for now, all eyes were on August and Felicity.
August didnât have much time to react before Felicity let out a hushed âfollow meâ and grabbed her by the wrist, leading her to a backstage hallway â where the light was a sobering neutral color compared to the main club.
And in this light, it was evident how flustered Felicity was.
âI⌠what the hell are you DOING here?!â
â…Trying to take advantage of cheap drinks?â August replied, visibly confused.
âI, uh, didnât⌠know you worked here.â
Felicity let out a frustrated sigh.
âWell! I guess that catâs out of the bag now.â she said in a huffy manner.
âI wouldn’t see a reason to hide it. A jobâs a job.â August said with a stretch.
âIf anything, the precision of what you were pulling off on stage was pretty impressive! Didnât think youâd be an acrobatic type, but I think itâs neat, at least.â
Felicityâs face seemed to only get more flushed, and she paused a bit before she replied.
âMmâŚâ she mumbled a bit.
âI guess Iâm⌠not used to people I know outside of work knowing. Especially⌠you.â
âWhat?â
âNothing! Itâs nothing! Iâm just! Being normal!â
August couldnât help but chuckle a bit â Felicity did tend to be a bit flustery around her, but this time it was on full display⌠among other things.
It was cute.
âHey, well, if itâs nothing⌠youâre still on break, right?â August asked.
âWhy donât we unwind a bit? I can pay as a treat for, uh, hopefully not twisting your ankle.â
And while felicity was still quite flustered, she was able to give a genuine smile.
âOf⌠of course! It would be wonderful to be able to spend some time with you tonight after all.â
