Privacy Policy & Accessibility

What is this?

Because being upfront is best!

TLDR of TLDRs…

This website contains javascript for a handful of functions, as well as embedded scripts from other websites (mostly webrings and Youtube). Cookies may also be used for things like guestbook commenting and preventing repetition of character favorites, but these are non-essential and may be cleaned or disabled at any time.

This website is not perfectly accessible, especially on mobile devices. Thank you for your patience as I work out the kinks on this, and feedback is always welcome!

Javascript

Javascript is used in the function of:

  • Various AJAX functions (mostly the character navigations)
  • The random selection of various randomly selected elements (the header tagline and characters, random character pickers, etc)
  • Code playground / gimmick pages
  • Some minor UI functions

Cookies

When commenting (on the guestbook or otherwise), you can opt-in to saving your name, email, and website combo as a cookie so you do not have to re-enter it. This lasts for a year if not cleared, and is a default WordPress function.

Characters you ‘favorite’ are stored in cookies to prevent infinite favoriting. That said, if you clear or disable cookies, you can favorite infinitely, if you feel like it?

Comments

Aside from the text submitted for the comment itself, WordPress by default also collects the IP address and browser string for purposes of spam prevention. I have no idea how to disable this, and also no idea where to view it – but if this freaks you out, use a VPN?

If the comment email you enter is connected to gravatar, it also connects to that service. Nonetheless, I replaced the comment icons with PMD ones.

Embedded content

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long data is retained

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so follow-up comments can be automatically cleared automatically instead of holding them in screening queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you’ve left a comment here, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data stored, including any data you have provided. You can also request that any personal data is wiped. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
