1 year* of Ultra Arc!

*Well, kind of.

1 year ago, I broke my self-imposed rule of only introducing ‘canon-adjacent’ characters to the Pokeau cast by bringing in Mariska. Little did I know, that like the spark that caused Pokeau to originally form, this was the start of something bigger.

While the ‘true’ start of Ultra Arc was more around May 5th with the posting of The Sea Where One’s Home Planet Reflects, I’ve been feeling pretty nasty health-wise (hence the lack of site updates), so I figured I could celebrate with Mariska’s adoption date instead.

This letter isn’t going to be as long as the general Pokeau birthday one, mostly in part to the aforementioned lapse in health. But I didn’t want to just not say anything, either.

As I’ve gradually felt more and more of a disconnect from pokemon because of the overabundance of media and the constant mess of a fanbase, Ultra Arc gave me a place to step away from all that. Because Ultra Space was an abandoned concept by TPC, I used it as my sandbox for breaking rules I had set for myself and worldbuilding beyond the confines of ‘canon’. Combined with a few species groups (mostly funny rabbits), the story quickly grew as I realized how much fun I was having.

Because, yes, ‘classic’ Pokeau will always have my heart and I enjoy working within the modified canon of pokemon for it. But also, letting loose and doing whatever I want with weird looking characters is fun too! A world without rules, where anything is possible… from cozy town life to high stakes heists, there’s a little bit of something for whatever I’m feeling.

It’s technically Friday, isn’t it?

Not an official FFF, but figured I’d put in some notes…

My health has been in rough shape since the start of the month so progress has been slow. I know I need to do a bunch of cleanup of small things, but right now I’m trying to prioritize rest. Thanks for sticking with me!
