While the circumstances that led to her birth are a bit concerning, Arael is the alleged daughter of Hazel and Ramiel – a wonder to behold.
As chaotic as her two parents would imply, Arael enjoys using her inherited powers to reckless abandon. Whether it be pulling pranks, or involving wild aliens in her violent idea of playtime, Arael is hard to control and knows it.
But as she approaches the height of her teenage years – the struggles she was genetically predispositioned to endure have set their hold on her.
Nobody understands Arael. And when you’re living in a world that you feel is against you… Arael feels like her only option is to simply act like she’s the best.
But between playing prince charming, messing with the dorky upperclassman, and coming to terms with the true extent of her power… will Arael be able to outrun her teenage rebellion and hasty decisions? Or will they catch her red-handed?
Appearance
Arael is 5’1″, with an average build. She has long blonde hair, the bottom half of which glows a shining white. She has flopped over bunny ears, which match the color of her dragon-like wings and large claw on her right-hand arm – these also glow.
Per her species, Arael has a glowing light golden, lace fixed collar, and thigh-high light yellow fur on her legs. She has a sleek round tail, the color of which is the same as her leg fur.
Personality
Arael is... a difficult teen. She can be considered bratty, expecting everything to be given to her simply because she's her. She has an 'act first, ask later' attitude, often causing trouble or minor chaos simply because she's bored.
She's a hasty decision-maker and often tries to worm her way out of uncomfortable situations as fast as possible, as opposed to properly thinking a solution through... often leading to snowballing of tensions, until Arael erupts. She pretends to be cool, carefree, and collected, but in reality, she has a very short fuse.
Story
I'll get to it... eventually.
Skills
Divine blood:
- Wormhole creation:
- Arael is capable of creating wormholes through time and space. While capable of creating wormholes leading to outside of Ultra Space, she has little interest in the Outside World.
- Flight:
- Arael can fly/hover in the air, however often gets afraid of anything more than 10 feet high.
- -blasts you with forearm laser-
Curiosity:
- Even if it tends to manifest itself in an unintentionally destructive manner, Arael is highly curious and moves forwards with a drive to constantly learn and discover more. Whether it be about her family's history or the world around her, Arael strives to learn more about it.
Relationships
Hazel - Mother
Hazel has always been a bit distant towards Arael, leading to Arael having trouble finding solace with her. While Arael can only assume she cares about her, she finds it difficult to read Hazel's bluntness.
Ramiel - Parent
In the past, Arael would cling to Ramiel like a comfort blanket, seeing them as an important protective figure. Now, she feels their worries and safety measures to protect her are too restrictive.
Mariska - Third mom
Despite not being related in any biological manner, Mariska is Arael's favorite of her three parents. She's both the perfect amount of fun and understanding, and has never felt too restrictive. Still, Arael feels she needs to hide her riskier rebellious actions from her - not wanting to upset her.
Maria - Crush?
Maria is curious to Arael - she seems to be endeared by her, so she likes sticking around and showing her new places and things to feel cool. It's nice, and Maria matches Arael's pace much better than someone like Mona... but still not exactly.
Mona - Friend
Mona may be an egghead, but Arael can't argue about how smart Mona is. She's the brains to back up Arael's brawn, and Mona is often pulled along for semi-willing adventures frequently.
Lara - Babysits
It didn't seem like either Arael or Lara's parents wanted Arael to be Lara's babysitter... but there wasn't much choice in a place like Waterfall. Fortunately, Lara is the perfect amount of chaos to match Arael's speed. Arael enjoys being a 'cool big kid' for Lara.
Beeba - Pet
Beeba was a pet given to Arael for her 13th birthday - she enjoys how they're both a reliable companion, but also independent enough to not require constant attention and care.
Minor relationships
Diana - Annoyance
Though it was only semi-intentional, Diana became Arael's subject of torment as Arael began to mess with various anomalies. Arael thinks that Diana is boring and nerdy, and doesn't 'get' why Diana wouldn't hate her.
Lottie - Familiar kid
Arael sees Lottie around town hall sometimes when with Mona, and knows she's good friends with Lara... but that's about it. She doesn't talk, and Arael has difficulty picking up on her nonverbal cues.
Abzu & Tiamat - Grandparents
Arael enjoys spending time with her grandmothers, and was babysat by them quite a bit in her younger years. Now that she's older, she sometimes acts as the bouncer for the pub due to Abzu's worsened condition.
Marilynn - Grandmother
Arael enjoys wormholing over to Marilynn's house to help her bake! She was initially oblivious to her familial relationship with her, but eventually figured it out herself.
Trivia
- Arael has sharp canines.
- Arael briefly went to school in the Ultra Station, but was expelled after a scuffle.
- Her favorite game is 'tag but with lasers'. Mona hates this game, while Lara likes it.
- Arael has rooms both in Lunaires, as well as in an improvised add-on attic in Hazel and Mariska's house in Waterfall.
- While Lunaires is definitely fancier, Arael vastly prefers spending her time in Waterfall, unless Ramiel is home in Lunaires.
Meta commentary
- Arael's creation was a result of the very very first Ultra Arc oneshot winning the monthly vote for her species group!
