In the dense industrial complexes of the Ultra Plant, if one looks to the second story of a garage… a pink and perfumey salon can be found – a salon that sits as Birdie’s pride and joy.
Birdie was born and raised in Ultra Megalopolis, and went to university for cosmetology in the metropolis – after she’d grown up adoring the art of style.
When it came time to study in the field though, Birdie found it hard to come across any mentors that could match her speed. So, she looked outside the city, to the more industrial district surrounding it.
While she’d initially held predispositions about the Ultra Plant, Birdie’s stylist training in the area completely changed her perspective. It was tight knit and unique, and had exactly the type of energy she’d been looking for.
While it may not be as ‘glamorous’ as the big city, it’s a place Birdie can call home – and a place where Birdie feels she can make an impact, one haircut at a time.
Appearance
Birdie is 5’4″, with a chubby, pear-shaped body type. She has green skin, pointed ears, and two antennae that can be seen from her light blonde hair. She has yellow eyes, and sharp nails that she often paints hot pink.
She enjoys dressing in a flashy manner, choosing clothing that tend to accentuate her body type – stating it helps boost her confidence.

Personality
Birdie is notably optimistic, and takes a particular pride in helping boost the morale and confidence of others. She’s not naive though, and is rather acutely aware of the hardships in her community – but she sees it as just more reason to lend a helping hand. Because in her eyes, someone has to do it in order to get the chain reaction started.
She’s also considerably generous and quite forgiving – and though Birdie would like to insist that she know her boundaries, she does tend to be prone to letting people off the hook when she really shouldn’t. Despite this, she’s made a habit of cleaning up messes when they arise from her over-generosity and letting them go.

Skills
Hairdressing:
- While Birdie is technically an all-around stylist, her true talent and passion lies in hairdressing. Whether it be a basic trim or a hairspray-sewn work of art, her expertise is finely honed.
- She’s also quite proficient in working with the fur of most sapient species – though the thick coats of lupanthera are the only time she’s met her match.
Relationships
Bogey – Sibling
As their older sister, Birdie is a mix of Bogey’s protector and personal cheerleader. They were always given a hard time by the two’s parents, so Birdie made it her mission to ensure that Bogey had someone to fall back on. The two remain close, and Bogey will visit during extended stops at the transport depot.
Lara – Niece (Arc II)
Birdie absolutely ADORES Lara – even though her rascally little kid energy may be a bit much for others, Birdie finds her entertaining to keep up with. It’s always a treat for both of them when Bogey lets Birdie babysit her, filled with makeovers galore.
Sorcha – Client
Sorcha’s greasy, unbrushed hair would read as a waking nightmare for most hairdressers – and while it still kind of is for Birdie, she takes on with confidence. The stationmaster seldom leaves her apartment to get her hair under control, but when she does, Birdie is able to make her comfortable enough to bring her reclusive walls down – even if just for a moment.
Himemu – Client
Birdie enjoys working with Himemu, as she finds the young woman matches her vibe rather closely. The two like to share all kinds of gossip, and Birdie often gives Himemu relationship advice.
Minor relationships
Piki – Maintenance worker
While Piki is generally an auto mechanic, her garage is located directly below Birdie’s salon. Piki doesn’t seem to mind Birdie calling her up to help when something breaks, and Birdie does her best to avoid any comments about how badly Piki could use a slight shampoo and trim.
Trivia
- After smelling it from Piki’s garage, Birdie regularly orders delivery from Takemi’s kitchen.
- Despite being in such close proximity to those involved in the highlands drift racing clique, Birdie doesn’t follow it at all.
- Which is to say, she has no idea Bogey is involved, too.
- While she’s still in contact with her parents on occasion, their treatment of Bogey has made her keep a bit of a distance.
- She was quite into fashion dolls when she was young – which she’s since brought out of storage for Lara to play with.
Meta commentary
- Birdie was named as a nod to Bogey’s name – together, the two’s name reflect types of scores in golf.
- …While I doubt either of them play golf, I imagine Birdie smells like the salon my grandparents would take me to as a kid. My grandparents play golf – is… is that close enough?
