Bogey ‘Binted’

When things need to get from one place to another, someone’s got to do it – and it so happens that an individual named Bogey has taken up that job with a particular pride.

After dropping out of university, Bogey took up long-distance delivery work to keep themselves afloat, and found that it clicked. The places and people they’d see had them enamored, especially the small town of Waterfall that they’d consistently drive through on routes from Megalopolis to the Station.

And though things have been business as usual, one of their more high profile clients contacted them with a special request of upmost importance and secrecy…
While Bogey values stability and the norm, the chance to be a part of something bigger is rather tempting.
It’s the ultimate test of skill – will Bogey pass?

Appearance

Bogey is 5’5″, with an average build and green skin. They have light purple hair, and heterochromatic eyes – one pink, one purple.
While they have partial human blood, they possess some hybrid features such as a thick spiked tail, antennae, and pointed ears.

They enjoy dressing on the flashier side, using the fact that they drive all day and nobody will see and complain as their reason.

Personality

Bogey had a very laid-back, ‘bro’ type attitude. They enjoy taking it easy, but not too easy – there’s work to be done, after all.
They value their experience greatly, and strive to do the best at their job without stressing themselves out.

And while their job may be a lonely one on the long road, Bogey is quite sociable and enjoys making the most of their interactions with others when they have the chance – they tend to never forget a face or client.

Story

I’ll get to it… eventually.

Skills

Driving:

  • Bogey is adamant about being a skilled driver. While most of their routes are calm, they’ve familiarized themselves with the bumps along the way almost perfectly.
    • For more ‘specialty’ work that requires secrecy or urgency, Bogey can control a massive vehicle with the ease of a drift car. It’s impressive, but also a bit terrifying for any passengers.

Bluffing:

  • It’s not a skill Bogey is particularly proud of, but after beginning to associate with a certain locale in Waterfall, Bogey has become an expert at avoiding things like truck searches through their words.
    • They could probably use this to get their way with other things, too, but Bogey prefers being honest unless the situation requires it.

Relationships

⠀Deni – Familiar shopkeeper

The owner of Bogey’s most frequently visited truck stop. Bogey interacts with Deni with an over-familiar playfulness, and while they know Deni really only cares about their business in the end, Bogey feels they would consider Deni a friend. They’ve been contracted a few times by her to transport things to and from the shack, as well.

⠀Wasundari – Client

Bogey finds Wasundari a bit odd, but is more than happy to help her with favors she requests when Bogey is around. She’s pleasant to work with and pays well – and making Waterfall more than just a truck stop is something Bogey can get invested in.

⠀Rosetta – Admires

Bogey is kind of in awe of her – they know she’s incredibly wealthy and well-known, so being contracted by her feels like an incredible recognition of skill. Though, the two have only formally talked once.

⠀Mildred – A reassuring voice

As the host of the only radio station for the most of Waterfall’s marsh route, Bogey more often than not finds themselves listening in to Mildred’s show. It’s a parasocial relationship at best, but after listening for so long, Bogey can’t help but feel like the voice on the other side of the truck’s speaker is an old friend.

Trivia

  • Bogey’s go-to checkout from Deni’s shack is a 6-pack of cheap beer, a dozen energy drinks of assorted type, and a large bag of chips. Sometimes they get a small candy package if they feel they did a job well done that day.
  • While most of Bogey’s transport is legitimate, they’re not opposed to under-the-table running of illicit contraband. They use their good reputation and track record to get away with it.
  • They seem to always be vague about how much money they truly make, though they’ve always had a penchant for cheap things and has been known to refuse food for being ‘too fancy’.
  • They prefer to sleep in their truck, though will check into a motel if they’re truly exhausted.
