Candy

Candy was, by all means, a bit typical – hailing from the dense urban complexes of the Ultra Plant, he made his way to the Ultra Station after failing to find adequate work at home, and just finding Megalopolis to be too overwhelming.
While his home offered exceptional opportunities for his hobby of urban exploration and parkour, Station was no short of them either.

But Candy was here to find work, not to play around… as luck would have it though, a chance encounter at a tucked-away ramen shop seemed to secure the deal – at first glance, at least.
Because while it would have appeared that the job was just for a speedy delivery worker capable of quickly navigating the complex areas of the Station’s inner surface… it didn’t take long for the facade to come crashing down.

The ramen shop was a front for a band of street criminals operating as a surface branch of the more sinister organizations of the Underdeck, and Candy had just become their cutpurse.
But… to Candy… he doesn’t actually mind it much? A place to stay, decent pay, and delicious free food was more than enough to seal the deal.

So while it may be dashing orders by day… under nightfall, Candy has started to make a name for himself as a bolt in the shadows – a getaway runner who’s yet to be caught, one who’s crafty enough to outrun vehicles with his own two legs.

Appearance

Candy is 5’01” (154cm), with an average-lean body type. He has dark blue off-black fur, that has a coily overall texture. Because of this, sections of longer fur are styled into locs, which Candy likes to decorate with colorful ties and bands.
While Candy’s genetic makeup is mostly zeraora, he has a few general hybrid traits that he’s inherited – namely, his small, vestigial wings on his back.

As its more normal among sapient beastform species, Candy does not wear clothing in a way a humanform would. Outside of accessorizing and styling his fur, Candy is usually seen sporting a horned baseball cap.

Candy was designed by Kunesho, and joined Ultra Arc on April 10th, 2025

Personality

Candy is lax and easygoing, and is generally driven by personal interest. If he thinks something sounds cool, he’ll trail it to the ends of the earth… but if it becomes ‘boring’ to him at any moment, he’ll drop it just as quickly as he picked it up.
In this way, he’s often perceived to be naive or immature – and while that’s not wrong, Candy is still capable and dedicated so long as he’s hyped up enough.

Though, as lax as he may be, he has quite the competitive streak when it comes to areas he prides himself in. If he’s challenged by someone, he won’t back down… even if everyone else thinks he really should.

Story

I’ll get to it… eventually.

Skills

Species Abilities:

  • Electrical storage:
    • While Candy is not 100% zeraora, he still has the full ability to store electrical charge within his paws. Particularly, Candy will use a stored charge to trigger an ‘emergency turbo boost’ in his skates if deemed necessary.

Agility:

  • Candy has a need… for speed! While he prefers using rollerblades, he’s also more than capable with just his bare paws for parkour. Having grown up in the Ultra Plant, Candy is an expert at quickly weaving through pipes, wires, and tight corners.
    • Generally, he’s fine as long as he has a momentum – but Candy’s one weakness comes when he’s suddenly halted while high up. He denies his fear of heights adamantly.
    • He intentionally grows his fur thicker on areas he knows he’s more likely to scrape or skid, since it provides built-in padding.

Relationships

Hinata – Host and Accomplice

One would think that with both Candy and Hinata being so lax, they’d mellow out the room… but really, its like a double negative effect. The two are friends beyond their street gang comradery, and seem to bring out each other’s zaniest sides. It’s often attested that their banter sounds like some kind of double comedy act.

Zackary – Roommate and Accomplice

Candy thinks Zackary is chill, if not a bit too much of an introvert at times. Despite them both coming from around the same geographic area, they don’t have a lot in common – but Candy is appreciative enough that his roommate is quiet and keeps to himself all the time.

Kalika – Leader

Though Kalika has been increasingly busy with work beyond the street gang, Candy holds trust in her leadership – frankly, more trust than he ever held with Kagerou. Candy’s impression is that Kalika always knows exactly what to say, and therefore he’s in safe hands whenever she’s around.

Kagerou – Former Leader

Kagerou and Candy would argue quite a bit, often because Candy would have qualms with Kagerou’s heist plans – leaving Kalika to mediate. However, since Kagerou’s retirement, they’ve been able to cool off a bit. Candy thinks it’s kind of crazy how different Kagerou is now, though.

Amity – Rivals

With the two both having massive parkour-centered egos, it was inevitable that they’d butt heads. There was no shortage of them putting themselves and each other in danger just to one-up the other… even after Amity’s retirement, any reunions that involve the two of them quickly devolve into chaos.

Minor relationships

Himemu – Familiar Face

As they’re around the same age and grew up in around the same neighborhood, Himemu is someone that Candy is familiar with on surface level. He has no idea what she sees in car racing, though.

Tuesday – Regular Customer

While the Underdeck was usually a place only Kagerou or Kalika would go, Candy’s ramen delivery adventures sometimes take him to an upper-level internet cafe there. Going by ‘Hoshikuma-Douji’, this individual is etched in Candy’s mind for always ordering excessive amounts of food… there’s no way they actually go through all of it, right?

Trivia

  • While Candy’s disdain for cars is mostly an ego thing, he’s also failed driver’s tests at least twice.
  • He wouldn’t consider himself a ‘gamer’, but has been known to enjoy puzzle games since gaining access to Zackary’s ROM hoard.
  • Candy is quite close with Hinata’s elderly parents, who often joke about him being their ‘second daughter’.
    • He doesn’t mind this – and quite likes it, actually. He was always a bit distant from his own parents, after all.
  • He’s accidentally hopped into restricted government spaces enough to be on a list, but is noted on this list to be a ‘confused thrill seeker’ despite his criminal affiliation.

Meta commentary

  • Candy was originally created as a part of a DTA (Draw To Adopt) contest that I won! His design name for this contest was ‘Neo Bat’.
    • The entry I made, N(e)o Life Queen, was also the first time I did proper pre-vis and a more standard workflow for a 3D project.
  • Candy’s name was taken from DJ Candy of Mysims, even though the two don’t have a lot in common.
