“It’s better now, but… the whole ordeal stressed me out way too bad, I’m still trying to recover. I just want to get back to normal.”
–Chantal, Distortion holic
Fresh out of college and looking for a job, Chantal was offered a mysterious internship by a distant family friend.
As it would turn out, this internship was just tedious filework… at a top-secret experimental facility.
While she stood out among the staff due to her vastly differing interests and motivations, her young enthusiasm had managed to catch the attention of the facility’s most secret resident.
But with tensions between Ultra Spacian empires rising, Chantal and her supervisor hatched a plan to ensure that said secret resident would be safe.
Pulling off the heist of the century isn’t easy, especially when you’re just a normal gal. And though Laura and Chantal are safe now, the emotional toll and search for a lost stability remain.
Still, thanks to a rather eccentric town, Chantal feels that even after everything, a new sense of normalcy is in reach.
Appearance
Chantal is 5’7″, and has a fat build. She has tan-colored hair, which is almost always put into two buns. Her eyes are a dark lilac grey, with a black sclera. She has acne on her face, and long lopped ears.
Per her species, she has a lilac grey new-moon halo, legs with knee-length fur, and a fluffy tail.
Personality
Chantal is upbeat, and tries to make the best of any situation. She is vehemently against conflict of any kind – and will quickly attempt to mediate tense situations, even if it stresses her out quite a bit.
She can be described as a bit silly, but ultimately takes anything she’s tasked to do very seriously – she wants to prove that even in a dark world, you can still be sunny and get things done.
She’s very sociable towards visitors of town hall, and though it was a bit confusing to them at first, her attitude has made her a town staple.
Story
I’ll get to it… eventually.
Skills
Dedication:
- Get Chantal started on something, and she’ll make sure to see it through. She’s very good at sticking through tasks, no matter how tedious or boring.
- However, the in-between moments before and after she starts something tend to be a weak point in terms of distraction.
Charisma:
- Chantal is very social, and she’s good at it! She seems to know just what to say and when to say it. Even towards the most deadpan of her coworkers, she can elicit a smile… or at least, she can sense it, if said coworker doesn’t have a mouth.
- Surprisingly, she was a bit of a shut-in in college, but opened up after joining the facility’s staff. She was rather well-known in high school for her kindness, however.
Relationships
Laura – Wife
Laura was the facility’s premier experiment, and Chantal often routed by her large holding tank while couriering files. Out of curiosity, Chantal stopped by for a bit to chat, and found Laura and herself got along very well. The two are inseparable, and live together in Waterfall. Even though their media preferences are different, they enjoy mutually nerding out together.
Dina – Former supervisor
Dina was the distant family friend who got Chantal the internship, and through work the two have managed to kindle a closer relationship. The two are both very defiant towards what the empire desires, and will often rant about it to each other. Otherwise, Dina treats Chantal similarly to how a parent would treat their adult child. Chantal is happy things worked out for Dina, too.
Isabelle – Mayoral cohort
Isabelle was one of the only people to give Chantal a warm welcome to Waterfall, and ended up offering her a job at town hall… which is to say, Chantal does all the work behind Isabelle’s grand ideas. Though, Chantal doesn’t mind – Isabelle is a good friend and Chantal enjoys her company greatly.
Mona – Daughter (Arc II)
Parenthood came as a surprise to Chantal, but just like her handling of most other situations, she takes it in stride. She loves Mona, and wishes only to see her succeed… though, Chantal does worry that she may get hurt by researching too deeply.
Minor relationships
Abzu – Neighbor
Abzu was also on Chantal’s welcome wagon, being an old friend of Dina’s. Though Chantal finds them to be a bit mysterious and odd, they appreciate their help and advice when they’re around.
Quill – Neighboring ambassador
Chantal can’t help but find Quill a tad annoying, considering the level of distraction she brings to Isabelle’s work… but, aside from that, Chantal finds her friendly and agreeable.
Trivia
- Her college degree was in statistics, with a minor in Outside World studies that she eventually dropped.
- She has strong legs, and can run quite fast. Especially useful for when she gets too distracted talking to Laura and needs to run some copies over extra fast.
- She’s been told she has a good taste in fashion, however hasn’t actually changed what she wears since freshman year of high school.
- She’s exceptionally good at making phone calls, but not receiving them.
