As the ambassador of Ultra Crater, Daichi is an icon of the community admired by many. While she may be on the younger side, her mastery of agriculture is unmatched and her direction is what keeps her community moving forwards.
But, in the shadow of her position are memories she can’t bear to repress.
Growing up, religious superstition around her eye had her pinned as a ‘seer of Lunaires’. She could care less about whatever this was supposed to mean, but community pressure was high. Thankfully, another girl that Daichi went to school with named Hazel seemed eagerly interested in the topic.
Together, the two dreamt big, researching and idealizing about how to get to the elusive moon palace in the sky. Daichi thought it was just idealistic youthful ambition, but…
She failed to see the signs.
After the incident that resulted in Hazel running off, Daichi felt immensely guilty over everything that had transpired. She swore to dedicate herself to bettering her community in the shadow of the tragedy, a dedication that would eventually land her the role of ambassador.
Years later, when the craters suddenly and unexpectedly went dry, Daichi couldn’t figure out how something like this was possible. It was only after consulting a knowledgeable scientist who suggested it could be related to Lunaires, that Daichi knew.
That suddenly everything made sense.
Appearance
Daichi is 6’03”, with a lean build. She has long, dark brown hair tied into a ponytail, with naturally dark brown eyes – however, covered by her hair, her right eye appears to be a light-colored galaxy with no pupil.
She has large antlers, frequently seen wrapped with vines which occasionally bear fruit.
Per her species, Daichi has rabbit ears, legs, and a tail, as well as a lunar halo that appears to be made out of vines.
Personality
Daichi is a hardworking type, who doesn’t like to give up on others – even if it means pulling most of the weight herself. She tries to not come across as overly serious to others, and maintains a friendly, neighborly attitude in spite of great stress at times.
Though she’s considered to be a bit of a ‘friend to all’, she has a tendency to get lonely quite easily. But on account of wanting to appear as a strong role model, Daichi attempts to repress these feelings as much as she can.
Story
I’ll get to it… eventually.
Skills
Agriculture:
- Like many of the crater’s residents who don’t take primary interest in rocket science, Daichi’s family was instead located on a farm. She appears to have an almost natural affinity with both flora and fauna, and tends to be the go-to person when there’s farm problems to solve.
- While not as handy with engineering as Hazel, Daichi is still skilled at repairwork on agricultural machines.
- She trains livestock protection and heavy working volcanion when she can.
Knowledge of Lunaires:
- It’s something she’ll refuse to admit, but Daichi knows a lot about the moon palace of Lunaires – even more than some of the most dedicated acolytes of the Crater. Hours of theorizing and research she did in her youth indeed stuck with her, and though she doesn’t flaunt her knowledge, she’ll hesitantly give lectures if you ask very nicely.
- Despite being recently made aware that the Skymother has returned, Daichi has made a mutual promise to keep it a sworn secret.
Relationships
Hazel – Childhood friend
Daichi can’t say she agrees with the path Hazel has taken or what Hazel did… but in spite of it all, a fondness remains. Memories don’t go away, and even if Daichi is aware Hazel wants to keep running, she still appreciates knowing she’s making an effort to improve.
Marilynn – Close friend
After the smoke cleared, Daichi and Marilynn were able to find a sense of solidarity in each other. And though Daichi came to terms much faster and ended up having to support Marilynn for years to come, she doesn’t mind it.
Dina – Subordinate
While Daichi isn’t super familiar with Dina on a personal level, she can attest to her hardworking nature and drive for conflict resolution. Still, Daichi kind of wishes Dina would let herself take breaks sometimes.
Arael – Confused
Knowing Hazel on the level she does, the knowledge of Arael’s existence is a bit… concerning. But Daichi has been reassured over her concerns, and now mostly just tries (and fails) to keep up with Arael’s unruly nature when she comes to visit.
Mariska – Acquaintances
Daichi can’t help but feel a bit unnerved around Mariska, given that she’s a notorious criminal, and all. Still, it… doesn’t feel like it? Though Mariska is a bit too brash and loud for Daichi’s tastes, the pirate has shown nothing but kindness towards Daichi – which, while bringing conflicted feelings, is something Daichi appreciates.
Athena – Neighboring ambassador
They can’t spend time together often due to both of them having busy schedules, but the two seem to get along well. Daichi has personally donated some supplies and assets to Athena’s palace in thanks.
Trivia
- Daichi always makes sure to pick the fruit off her antlers before going to bed.
- She waters the plant when she takes showers.
- The coat Daichi wears was an extra recovered from debris after the incident – as far as she knows, it didn’t belong to anyone who was harmed.
- While Daichi has been visited by Hazel, she takes Hazel’s word as to ‘don’t visit Waterfall’.
- Upon transitioning, she was unable to figure out a new name she thought suited her, and simply opted to keep her birthname.
