Demeter, AKA Demmie

Demmie was well-revered in her home region as the goddess of harvest, but after sudden conflicts between humans caused what she believed to be irreparable damage and loss, she opted to flee to the more sparsely populated region of Hisui.

Demmie’s timing was impeccable, because it would turn out that a harsher than normal winter was causing a food shortage for the growing region.
Using her blessings, Demmie was able to restore hope and stability – and catch the attention of a conflicted clan leader.

Demmie was there to offer comfort to Irida, who had just lost 2 close friends. The two shared many ideals, and soon fell in love.
After Irida’s natural death, Demmie promised they’d meet again – and by pulling some strings, the two were reunited when Irida was revived as Enamorus’s emissary.

A bright future draws near, and with an exciting reunion, Demmie can’t help but think the past is new again.

Appearance

Demmie is 5’11”, with a thin build. She has yellow eyes, and long hair that runs in a sunset-like gradient.

Personality

Demmie is an ambivert – she can come off as shy and closed off some times, and playful and talkative at others. She has a bit of a streak of feeling awkward around other people, so she tends to talk a lot so she doesn’t think that much into it.
She’s a bit too familiar with accidentally mis-explaining herself, but she can quickly pull herself together if needed.

She greatly values the natural world, and oftentimes jokes how she gets along more with plants than people.

Story

I’ll get to it… eventually.

Skills

Emissary of Landorus:

  • God of harvest:
    • Landorus isn’t just a symbol of good harvest – it possesses the power to bring it, as well. Demmie has the ability to enrich soil to a degree that guarantees a successful harvest.
  • Therian form:
    • Landorus’s therian form is an alternate appearance more suited to divine work on the groud, as opposed to from the air. Demmie vastly prefers this form.
  • Master of the forces of nature:
    • Demmie has the power to both precisely locate, and neutralize the other forces of nature.
      • Traditionally, Enamorus has been seen as Landorus’s lover, while Thundurus and Tornadus are their children.
        • While Irida has since been revived as Enamorus, Thundurus and Tornadus are still awaiting new emissaries.
  • Conditional immortality:
    • Legends  stop aging physically at age 21, after that, they do not age. As such,  they cannot die from old age, though they can be killed through other  means.

Memory:

  • Demmie never forgets, as scatterbrained as she may come across as. Both the good and the bad, Demmie’s memory is incredible to the point of remembering specifics about yearly harvests from years ago.

Relationships

Irida – Wife

Demmie’s most beloved, not even death could part them. Together, they stabilized the newly-formed Sinnoh region, and centuries later dedicated their time to preserving the legacies of the stories they wrote together. They run the Pearl Clan Historical Museum in Snowpoint City together.

Ridley – Admires

Demmie idolizes Ridley in a way, after hearing all the things Irida has said about them. And while their communication styles aren’t the most compatible, Demmie still looks up to their words.

Adaman – Friends

Demmie is closer with Adaman compared to Ridley, simply due to the fact that Adaman is much more willing to talk. They enjoy talking about farming techniques, even if Demmie doesn’t really ‘get’ whatever backyard farming is supposed to mean.

Yuri – Friends

Demmie doesn’t understand a lot of Yuri’s interests or the terms she uses, but is warm to her anyways. Yuri loves asking Demmie for stories of Hisui.

Daji – Penpal

Daji’s grandfather – the elder of Lostlorn forest – was one of Demmie’s friends prior to her leaving for then-Hisui. Daji still leaves offerings at the old Landorus shrine in Lostlorn, to which Demmie returns the favor with letters. The two have no idea how easy it would be for them to meet due to mutual connections.

Trivia

  • She’s quite fond of fox pokemon.
  • While Irida deals with the harsh Snowpoint winters just fine, Demmie has convinced her to follow her to Pastoria City to ride them out.
  • She dislikes the rapid and heavy modernization of her home region, and only visits rarely – citing the air pollution as bothering her too much.
  • She wants children of her own greatly, especially after Yuri was born – and feels a bit jealous of Adaman and Ridley.
