As a teen, Dmitri was always relative soft-spoken and nervous. But when he unthinkably became a victim of Darkrai’s eternal nightmares, he shut himself away until the day those nightmares took his life.
What he didn’t expect was for that to not be the end. Dmitri was later revived as Darkrai’s emissary, and so his new waking nightmare began.
He didn’t want anyone to succumb to the fate he did, but keeping a tight grip on his powers was growing more difficult by the day.
When a curious magician who always came in on his late night shift asked for his assistance, one thing led to another and Dmitri accidentally left Vanya with Darkrai’s curse.
But… Vanya seemed completely unaffected.
And so began Dmitri’s adventure alongside the confident magician and her ever-peppy assistant – leading him into a world he only thought existed in fiction.
Appearance
Dmitri is 5’2″, and very lanky and thin. His skin is abnormally pale from lack of sunlight, and he has teal eyes with heavy eye bags. He has messy light grey hair, with black natural roots showing through.
He often keeps himself pretty covered, opting for all black with red accents. He wears a mask in public.

Personality
Dmitri often attempts to appear intimidating by appearance alone, because he is, in fact, a nervous wreck. He’s constantly paranoid of accidentally cursing people, and as a result has little to no relationships outside of work and the primary living assistant he works with.
This anxiety and stress practically rules his life, but more recently, after accepting his ‘worst case scenario’ happened with Vanya, he feels a bit calmer.
He really is kind hearted, but is afraid to open up enough to show so.

Relationships
Vanya – Close friend
While Dmitri was avoidant of Vanya initially, he’s since vastly warmed up to her since accidentally inflicting her with Darkrai’s curse. He enjoys her confidence and energy, to a point where it’s rubbed off on him and helped him be more confident himself.
Mishka – Close friend
Mishka was overwhelming for Dmitri at first, but over time, he came to greatly appreciate his energy and general positivity and love for the world around him. It’s thanks to Mishka that Dmitri sees things in a new, positive outlook.
Aster – Legendary counterpart
Dmitri was afraid of Aster, and… he still is. But his fear calmed down a bit after meeting her in person and learning of her connection to Vanya.
Trivia
- He’s a fan of cute-goth style merchandise, as it gives him comfort from the teenagerhood he mostly lost.
- Dmitri lives in an assisted living and counseling facility for young adults.
- He’s a chronic insomniac, and was even before working the graveyard shift at the library.
- He often lets Vanya hang out in his apartment, but has never actually seen where Vanya lives.
- Has has, however, seen Vanya’s childhood room after meeting her parents.
