Himiko

Return to Ultra Arc characters || Page last updated: June 3rd, 2026

Having been a go-getter all her life, Himiko is a woman with an unabashed confidence… and a massive ego. Having seen her hometown’s decline as she grew up, Himiko and her friends started a club to try and make a change.
But Himiko’s idealism was struck down by cruel realities… and despite her friend’s protests, Himiko decided to leave her hometown in order to try and make money in Ultra Megalopolis.

There, Himiko became swept up in the big city’s hustle culture – and while she managed to strike it big, she became selfish and power-driven in the process.
When thinking on how to expand her assets, Himiko realized that her hometown sat on prime real estate for some kind of dream vacation destination…

And so, that’s how the McWin Casino Resort was born.
As Himiko predicted, it was a massive hit – exponentially profitable, especially as she kept expanding it. And though admittedly mysterious, Himiko’s new secretary has helped her grow profits to new heights.

There’s pushback from locals and environmentalists, sure – but you can’t win over everybody… even if some of those with outcries were the very friends Himiko grew up with.
Because why would they be upset? She’d brought a new life to their hometown, after all.

With Toyotama keeping the Casino under control, it’s only natural that Himiko pay attention to the bigger picture…
A former ambassador was a blockade to Himiko’s conquest, but with her… permanent retirement, nothing stands in Himiko’s way to fully annex the Township anymore.

Right?

Appearance

As a seadogy, Himiko is one of the many dual-formed species in Ultra Space – in possession of both a humanform and a beastform.

In her humanform, Himiko is 5’10” (177cm), with a lean build. While she has medium skin, she’s often seen sporting a rather aggressive fake tan. She has light blonde hair, with an an upright and folded furred ear matching its color. She has pawed feet and a tail consisting of suspended turquoise liquid – the former blending with her skin at around the knee.

While she seldom takes her beastform nowadays, Himiko’s beastform is of average height for a seadogy, at 2’06” (86cm). Her fur matches the color of her hair, and while her chest is furred, her body from the shoulders down has the same suspended liquid look as her tail.

She dresses in a ‘beach bro’ manner, often wearing tank tops, shorts, and swimwear. She’s almost always seen sporting a red bandana with an ‘M’ on it.

Personality

Calling Himiko an egoist is almost an understatement. She’s very much fuelled by her desire to out-compete others, seemingly under the impression that she’s the most suited to be in charge. While she may not be traditionally ‘greedy’ and has been known to be almost reckless with freebies, she very often fails to account for other’s points of view or status.
After all, money solves everything, right?

Is there still some of the old Himiko left under the hustler that Megalopolis turned her into? Maybe.
Her cooperative skills have absolutely taken a nosedive since then, and her outgoing, charismatic affect is only for people-pleasing.

But… if Himiko finds a relationship to go beyond being a mutually beneficial business decision, she finds she’d be willing to listen.

Story

I’ll get to it… eventually.

Skills

Species Abilities:

  • Beastform:
    • Himiko is capable of voluntarily shifting into a dog-like beastform, or involuntarily if too stressed. While this form’s physical abilities generally mirror her main humanoid form, the softer appearance and changed build are useful for situations a humanoid form may not be as ideal for.
  • Exceptional Swimming:
    • Himiko’s species, while unable to actually breathe underwater, can hold their breath for a very long time and are great swimmers in both forms – though her beastform has a slight advantage due to paw webbing.

Charisma:

  • Himiko does good talk, and even if she’s lied or cheated her way into a corner… she almost always manages to use her skills to talk herself right out of it, anyways.
    • While not quite a pathological liar, Himiko lies frequently and sees no issue with twisting the true to give herself an advantage.

Relationships

Toyotama – Consultant

While Himiko doesn’t really listen to anyone… something about Toyotama caught her attention. As it would turn out, the mysterious occultist from the Station was exactly the missing piece that Himiko needed to maximize efficiency and profits. She feels safe delegating work to Toyotama with confidence that it’ll be done exactly as it should… but if Himiko will ever acknowledge her feelings of closeness outside of business to Toyotama… is another story.

Morgana – Subordinate

While Morgana generally answers to Toyotama, Himiko is still on friendly terms with the engineer. They both tend to mutually make jabs at each other that they each end up taking as compliments, so it works out somehow.

Laine – Ex-Friend

One wouldn’t get the impression that the two’s current relationship was so bitter by looking through the photos and keepsakes from their teenage years… alas, Laine’s position in trying to mediate the subject of the resort’s expansion vs the history and livelihoods of those in the Township has torn their friendship to the ground. It’s at a point where Laine refuses to even speak with Himiko.

Chel – Ex-Friend

Chel is innately easier to talk with than Laine, because Chel is the type of person to never give up or lose hope. Unfortunately, this means Himiko tries to manipulate Chel often – though Laine tends to act as a barrier.

Minor relationships

Ika – Curious About

While Himiko isn’t quite sure what Toyotama wants with some old hermit, she doesn’t mind Ika’s presence. Himiko has moreso heard about Toyotama’s interactions with Ika than interacted with her on her own time.

Wasundari – Enemy

Uh oh.

Trivia

  • Despite growing up on the coast, Himiko is not a fan of seafood.
    • However, she does claim that fried food that uses the same oil that fried fish uses always tastes better.
  • Himiko thinks occultism is ‘kind of bullshit’, but Toyotama has slowly swayed her towards a position of neutrality.
  • Her success in hustling and money-making is mostly due to her willingness to take chances and end up lucky – she is, in fact, not very good at math.
    • Toyotama handles finances now for a reason.
  • Himiko is one of the few aware that Wasundari is not actually dead – however, she respects her secret, seeing it as proof that she ‘won’ without the grief or guilt.
    • She got word of this due to how extensively her supply chain runs.

Meta commentary

  • There’s probably going to be a Himiko redemption some time. Maybe.
    • But, also, it’s kind of hot when a fictional woman is an evil prick. Sorry.
