Saying Kenjiro is eccentric? An understatement, truly.
Ken is a man who used to spend his days in a youth gang trying to push rocket out of Johto, but after things went awry, he turned to the quiet life of a sailor and fisherman in Cianwood.
He mostly makes a living by letting tourists ride out on his boat or by fishing with his beloved partner feraligatr, Aoi.
He’s Yuuto’s oldest living friend, whether the other would like to admit that or not – and since Yuuto began living in Cianwood, it seems the two are always up to something when they’re both free – even if Yuuto is just there as the second opinion to Ken’s weird hobby of the week.
And with a hasty revival, the leader of Kenjiro’s previous youth gang, and his oldest childhood friend was put back in commission.
With the three of them in Cianwood… the old group is back together! Which is a good thing, right? Right??
Appearance
Ken is 5’10”, with a slightly chubby bodytype. He has short reddish graying hair, which he ties behind a yellow and white striped bandana. He has brown eyes, and usually has some stubble on his chin.
He usually wears a satin jacket, t-shirt, gray shorts, and red flip flops.

Personality
Ken is all over the place. He’s always been a bit too forward and brash, but it seems he always has the best intentions behind his actions.
He can be over-emotional at times, and acknowledges this – saying it’s for ‘dramatic effect’. He really just means no harm, and if his antics push someone too far his apologies are always genuine.
He has a big soft spot for Aoi, and talks about her like a parent would talk about their 3-year-old child.
Story

Skills
Sailing:
- Ken comes from a family of sailing, so it seemed only natural to him that he’d pick it up as well.
- He specializes in pokemon-assisted sailing, and would probably be useless if out at sea without his partner pokemon.
- His boat is a rusty motor fishing boat he carried out of a scrapyard and fixed himself with Yuuto’s help.
Fishing:
- When he’s not moving around on the boat, he’ll be fishing out of it! It’s how he gets most of his food and money, plus it’s good fun for himself and Aoi.
- Again, he specializes in pokemon-assisted fishing. While he’s perfectly capaple of holding a rod out and waiting, he finds it more exciting to corral fish into a net with Aoi’s help.
- Seafood cooking:
- A skill that comes from another – Ken makes killer fried fish and will sell the excess to make some money.
Relationships
Yuuto – Old friend
Though the common perception is that Yuuto and Kenjiro don’t get along or that Yuuto finds Kenjiro annoying, it’s quite the opposite. Kenjiro finds Yuuto to be someone he can be truly honest with, and can expect true honesty in return. Kenjiro worries a bit about how Yuuto’s been internalizing things.
Raiden – Old friend
Despite everything, Raiden is there for Kenjiro yet again. The two have been friends since childhood, and despite what one may assume by their banter, they mutually feel they can always fall back on each other.
Basil – ‘Niece’
They do karaoke together, much to Yuuto’s disdain (despite Yuuto being present and also drunk). Kenjiro thinks Basil is ‘an absolute hoot’ to be around and loves her energy.
Diego – Acquaintance
Kenjiro likes to joke about Diego being ‘too much of a weenie’, but does so in a light-hearted manner. He thinks it’s a bit funny to hit him with culture shock.
Trivia
- Schoolchildren in Cianwood know him has the ‘Feraligatr man’ and sometimes playfully make fun of him.
- While Yuuto was in the hospital after the incident, he’d visit every day.
- Insists on being called uncle sometimes.
- He can only cook seafood. Anything else? Please don’t enable him.
