Naoko was simply a biology student, going about her way – until a mysterious scientist promised her the opportunity of a lifetime. She’d live in a mansion in Cinnabar island, and her work would help ‘make history’. Along with the handsome compensation, she couldn’t refuse – until she realized she had just been contracted by Team Rocket to help clone Mew into a superweapon.
While she didn’t exactly want to be working for the mob, it’s not like she had a choice to leave. It eventually grew on Naoko, who became one of the outstanding scientists of the group.
Naoko was killed when Mewtwo escaped and destroyed Cinnabar, but due to Arceus’s panic over Mew being dead for the first time, was revived as Mew’s emissary almost immediately after.
She now spends her days continuing her… ‘odd’ experiments in the name of the original ancestor, now accompanied by an equally off-beat assistant from overseas.
Appearance
Naoko is 5’4″, with a fairly average build. She has dark brown eyes, and dyed light pink hair – though her natural black roots can be seen.
She always seems to have a thousand-yard glare, stylized in the form of a half-shadowed face.
She’s a big fan of kei and street fashion, and despite her unethical interests, can often be seen decked out in ribbons, stars, hairclips, and frills.

Personality
Working in rocket and her subsequent death definitely changed Naoko. Before, she was the slightly anxious perfect student. But now… something seems to have awakened in her. While she is about 10 times more worried all the time, she seems to have gained a complete lack of regard for ethics. As long as she gets her results, she has no regard for what she has to do to get there.
Naoko is dedicated to her studies and doesn’t like asking for help, though she’s more than willing to share her work with those similar to her.
Still, she’s not very social and can often come across as cold to others.
Story
I’ll get to it… eventually.
Skills
Emissary of Mew:
- The original ancestor:
- Though it holds no true powers, and symbolic meaning instead, Mew is the original ancestor of all pokemon.
- Of course, Naoko makes her own meaning out of this, calling her experiments an extension of Mew’s ancestry.

- Transformation:
- In pokemon form, Mew is capable of transforming perfectly into any creature or object.
- Naoko cannot transform in human form.

- Conditional immortality:
- Legends stop aging physically at age 21, after that, they do not age and as such, cannot die from old age, though they can be killed through other means.
Science:
- While her ethics might be down the drain, it’s undeniable that Naoko is skilled at what she does. She studied pokemon biology in college before being contracted, and has since continued her studies in a self-directed manner.
- Her current subjects of interest are cloning and pokemon fusion.
- She makes some money by clone-reviving people’s deceased pokemon companions… though results vary.

Relationships
Mal – Lab assistant
Naoko doesn’t really ‘get’ why Mal is so affectionate towards her, but truly doesn’t mind. Even if she can be disorganized, Naoko appreciates an assistant – even if it’s only so she doesn’t completely lose her mind alone in the lab.
Colress – Ally
Though Naoko is notable for never wanting to share her research, she does have a sole friend through dark web forum boards who she feels she can trust. While she doesn’t know the man behind the cutesy lopunny icon’s real name, the two frequently exchange research with each other.
Trivia
- Before Mal, her sole companion was a porygon-Z, who corrupted any trace of loose data she left behind.
- Her funding is mostly based on residual support funds from Interpol for ‘surviving’ the destruction of Cinnabar.
- Despite working well under Rocket, she dislikes them because she hated the mandatory uniform.
- Naoko was the only legend not present for the battle against Ramiel – when Acerola attempted contact, Naoko scared her too much.
