“It’s not safe.”
“For you, I’ll ensure it is.”
–Exchange between Dina and Rosetta, The curtain shall rise soon
Through the power of wit and sheer luck, Rosetta worked her way up from just another person with big dreams to one of the most noteworthy and influential figures around.
While she tends to keep her past closely guarded, one thing is for sure – Rosetta knows how to start a party and keep it going – a talent that has gained her a legendary notoriety.
She owns the famed hotel House of Carina, a luxury destination for celebrities and high-profile politicians.
In secret, she often plays as a messenger for top-secret information passed between these important patrons.
However, as tensions between spacial empires grows, Rosetta has found that there’s a part she could play to prevent mutually assured destruction.
After all, the party must go on, and Rosetta will do anything in her power to ensure that.
Appearance
Rosetta is 5’5″, with an average-curvy build. She has purplish-blue eyes and light blonde hair. Her rabbit ears stand upright, next to a set of non-functional wings on her head.
The skin on her legs fades into starry specked, glass-like paws.
Per her species, Rosetta possesses a bowtie-style fixed collar, hat-style floating halo, and rabbit tail.
Rosetta was designed by HALZIONDEI
Personality
Rosetta enjoys having a good time, and getting others to have a good time along with her. While she doesn’t dive deeply into blatant hedonism, she definitely enjoys the more lavish things in life.
However, as her motto stands, she doesn’t wish to keep it all to herself. She’s very generous with her good fortune, with no ulterior motives behind it.
She greatly values the secrecy of herself and others, and expects the same attitude from those she chooses to confide in. She doesn’t take kindly to betrayal, and will act very harshly in cases of such.
Story
I’ll get to it… eventually.
Skills
Charisma:
- About 80% of Rosetta’s success can be chalked up to big talk, which she does very well. She knows how to get what she wants and keep people on their toes, and can keep the party going for as long as she needs it to.
- While she’s energized by group conversations, she also enjoys being able to spend one on one time with friends.
Gambling:
- Not just in the traditional sense, either. While she’s more than okay at a game of cards, her true talent lies in the gamble that is information trading. Working closely with high-ranked members of society has its perks.
- While she often simply passes along information as a middleman, she’s an effective negotiator if she believes there’s more she’ll want.
Relationships
⠀Dina – Forever intertwined
Rosetta finds Dina greatly intriguing, in a good way. Once close confidants who would dance together on the path to resolving incidents, the two have settled down together after the smoke has cleared. It’s hard to spot them apart, especially given how Rosetta likes to use her power and position to visit Dina in her often confidential workplaces.
⠀Diana – Daughter
Though Rosetta wasn’t being entirely literal in the conversation with Tonantzintla that led to Diana’s creation, she’s glad that Diana was brought into her life nonetheless. Rosetta does feel that her daughter takes after Dina a bit more, so she uses the same hypeman-like attitude to try and encourage Diana’s endeavors.
⠀Amity – Daughter figure
After dealing with the aftermath of what an individual named Hazel caused… Rosetta wasn’t looking to deal with nonsense when she caught a bandit attempting to steal from her. Seeing what happened to Hazel pushed Rosetta to take the thief in under her wing so her crimes didn’t snowball into something existentially dangerous. Thankfully, Amity was more than willing to go along with Rosetta, and has drastically improved – something that makes Rosetta incredibly proud. She doesn’t mind Amity calling her ‘mom’.
⠀Athena – Daughter figure
In a way, Athena almost reminds Rosetta of herself when she was younger. They get along well over shared values, and Rosetta is always open to lend an ear to Athena’s problems… even if she’s arguing with Amity over who ate the snacks.
⠀Yukarin – Honorary family member
Rosetta is definitely able to recognize that Yukarin is a bit of an… odd case. But she’s also able to recognize that Yukarin’s mentorship towards her daughter is beneficial for both of them, so Rosetta casts her worries aside. While not invited to the bigger family parties Rosetta holds, she often plans smaller dinners for just the immediate family and Yukarin.
⠀Abner – Late mentor
Long ago, Abner scouted Rosetta to serve as his ‘successor’, due to his remaining time being limited from terminal illness. While their time together may have been short, Rosetta still feels she owes everything to Abner’s kindness, and strives to give back to the people in his honor.
⠀Tonantzintla – …Interesting?
She won’t lie about it – Rosetta finds Tonantzintla to be a bit eerie and intimidating. They’ve been nothing but helpful toward Rosetta and her family, and she knows they don’t have any malicious intent… but whether it’s the way they speak or simply the energy they give off, Tonan doesn’t sit right with Rosetta.
Minor relationships
Dory – Friendly acquaintance
Dory is one of Diana’s friends that Rosetta interacts with the most. Even though she can tell Dory is a little starstruck by her, Rosetta finds Dory to be trustworthy and hardworking from her limited impressions.
⠀Abzu & Tiamat – Vague acquaintances
An ‘eclectic duo’, in Rosetta’s words. Abzu made an absurd purchase at Rosetta’s hotel, however, by the time she could investigate, it seemed Abzu was gone. Tiamat seems to be a bit intimidated by Rosetta, but Dina attests that the two are reliable and kind – so Rosetta takes her word for it. Rosetta is grateful that Abzu and Tiamat were willing to protect Dina when she was in hiding.
Trivia
- She lives in a secret suite in her hotel, rumored to be more upscale than the rest, somehow.
- She has a grey-list of attendants who she deems ‘problematic’ to serve, usually for rudeness or excessive mess, among other things. She likes to be a bit slow when dealing with these customers as punishment, and any employees who have the misfortune of attending to them get bonuses.
- She’s very popular in her home town, as many idolize her success.
- Despite owning the hotel of choice among hip and trendy celebrities, she almost always declines free tickets to performances out of lack of interest. She describes her taste in entertainment as ‘alternative’.
Meta commentary
- Despite Rosetta and Dina’s ‘meta slowburn period’ being even faster than Hazel and Mariska’s, they weren’t publicly revealed to be a romantic couple until about a year later.
- No, seriously. It didn’t even last until their FIRST oneshot together was even finished.
