Sahariel

Return to Ultra Arc characters || Page last updated: April 4th, 2026

With the Lunar Capital being a shining, peaceful utopia, it’s common for individuals to pursue hobbies they love for no other reason than personal enjoyment. Though… some people, like Sahariel, still desire to be something more.

Ever since she was young, Sahariel practically lived in the Capital’s grand central library. With her nose in the books all the time, she was never much for conversation – only really having one person she could consider a friend.
But with Sahariel’s friend Madonna being a vast overachiever, Sahariel always felt a background pressure to ‘prove’ herself.

The takeover of El-ahrairah spelled large-scale damage for more rural areas of the Lunarian Atrium, it unearthed a strange machine… a machine that Sahariel was convinced could be her big break.
Though countless sleepless nights of studying proved futile, the machine would end up suddenly activating when Sahariel least expected it, and left her stranded in a strange new world…
The surface beyond Lunaires – thought to have been obliterated thousands of years ago.

With the help of a rather odd duo, Sahariel became a part of something larger than she could ever imagine… reconnecting the Lunar Capital and the surface after 3,000 long years.

But with the spotlight suddenly on her… Sahariel isn’t sure if she actually enjoys it that much.
If anything, the path of reconnection and discovery made her realize one thing – that she’s really just happiest alongside people who love her, doing the things she loves enjoys alongside them… really, she couldn’t ask for anything else.

Appearance

Sahariel is 5’10”, with a thin and somewhat frail body type. She has chin-length, light tannish hair, with ribboned braids on both of the front sides.
She has lopped, scalloped ears, a small rabbit tail, and droopy wings that stem from her mid back – the coloration of which matches her hair.

She often wears elaborate and frilly dresses, preferring her aesthetic preferences over functionality.

Per her species, Sahariel also possesses a small, rabbitlike beastform that she can shift into. This beastform stands at about 1 foot tall, with a fur color that matches her hair in humanform.
She rarely, if ever takes this form – usually resorting to it if she feels she’s in danger.

Personality

Sahariel is incredibly introverted – though not exactly anxious about it. She would simply prefer to study instead of going on an outing… sometimes, even with people she cares about. Thankfully, the few that are truly close to Sahariel tend to understand that she’d stay in than go out.
While she’s normally quiet, she can be quite talkative if alone with someone she loves – often going on and on about various things that interest her.

In cases of conflict, Sahariel is notably not the greatest at advocating for herself by any means. She tends to get scatterbrained in stressful situations, and as such, has difficulty deciding what she should do.
Thankfully, her lifestyle means she doesn’t deal with this often – though her overactive curiosity has a record of landing her in stressful situations most often out of anything.

Story

I’ll get to it… eventually.

Skills

Species Abilities:

  • Dual-form:
    • Neo rabbitfolk, like their descendants earthen rabbitfolk, can shift into a small, fluffy beastform. Despite its looks, this beastform is actually a hardy extremophile and immune to many conditions that would be lethal to a humanform.
      • Sahariel was able to survive her fall from Lunaires by switching to her beastform.

Logic:

  • While Sahariel has a laughable lack of street smarts, she’s got more than enough in the realm of book smart. She always seems to be able to work out complex logistical problems on her own, though may need some help if social factors are involved…
    • Sahariel’s favorite fields of study are astrology and history, particularly pre-Darkest Day history.

Relationships

Sele – Partner

Though they’re not exactly married on official terms, that’s only really because Sele has a fear of commitment. It would seem opposites truly attract, because Sele’s party-girl attitude fills in the gaps Sahariel finds herself missing perfectly.

Kalika – Partner

In a similar fashion, Sahariel and Kalika are in matrimonial limbo because of Kalika’s nerves around commitment.
But just like with Sele, Sahariel doesn’t really mind – because the unspoken trust between Kalika and herself runs deeper than words could describe. She finds they mesh together exceptionally well in work situations.

Cupid – Daughter

Though Sahariel may be biologically related to Cupid, the girl is more Sele’s daughter than anything. Still, Sahariel does everything she can to encouraging Cupid’s learning and growth – even if Cupid already has a favorite parent.

Madonna – Friend

Sahariel and Madonna have been friends since the two were teenagers, and though their different paths in life have drifted them apart somewhat, they still see each other fondly. Madonna tends to nitpick Sahariel’s disorganized study habits.

Minor relationships

Yěcí – Boss

Sahariel and Yeci’s personalities fundamentally do not collide well – Madonna usually has to be the middleman between the two, because Yeci has intentionally made Sahariel cry before and would probably provoke her to do so again.

Trivia

  • Despite being one of the founding relations agents between Lunaires and the surface, Sahariel has never truly been to Ultra Station despite the closeness of the two.
    • …This is entirely in part to Sele and Kalika’s urges for her NOT to go.
  • Because of her interest in pre-Darkest Day history, Sahariel’s favorite surface vacation destinations are in Ultra Forest.
  • She’ll flap her wings quickly when excited or flustered.
  • Out of the three, Sahariel is the easiest for Cupid to convince.

Meta commentary

  • While they may not share much in terms of personality, Sakuya Izayoi from Touhou was a key inspiration in Sahariel’s design process.
    • Otherwise… if you know you know.
