Growing up in relative isolation, Shiso is a quieter type. She enjoys peace and time to herself, and ensures that with her power, things will stay that way.
Gifted with the divine ability of future sight, Shiso holds the important role of protector of the shrine deep in the Ultra Forest. Alongside her colleagues Quill and Hasu, the trio works together to ensure the ‘goddess’ housed in the shrine, as well as the residents of the Forest in general, are safe from harm.
But… distractions keep popping up.
The ‘goddess’ Carnation seems to have a growing fondness for Shiso, a fondness that Shiso returns… but a it’s a distraction, and one Shiso can’t seem to shake.
Additionally, Quill has been humoring the ambassador of the neighboring biome of Ultra Waterfall with romance – a distraction Shiso is even less than thrilled about.
Shiso thought she had her balance of work, life, and love figured out – but now that things have been thrown for a loop, with feelings not even she could predict. Can she adapt and accept change to her routine, or will she continue to build a spiral of excuses to pretend nothing is different?
Appearance
Shiso is 5’7″, with a fat and vaguely curvy build. She has pale pink eyes, which match the color of her hair – though her hair fades into a deeper shade towards the tips. She wears golden-framed glasses, decorated with ornamental flowers alongside her hair and tail.
Per her species, she has a long unicorn-like tail, scalloped ears, and a unicorn horn. Wrapped around her horn is a special piece of jewelry intended to conceal her third eye, ensuring that the visions of the future don’t get too overwhelming when she doesn’t want them to be.

Personality
Shiso has a no-nonsense, ‘get it done’ type of attitude, and seems to have little respect for disorganization or tomfoolery. This comes from a place of love rather than malice however, as she’s often described to act like an older sibling who only wants to see her friends and colleagues do their best. Still, she will become frustrated when she sees others slacking excessively for making empty excuses, and can be quite harsh if she isn’t already familiar with the person.
And while her general attitude values planning greatly, she already enjoys living in the moment as a way to combat worrying visions of the future. ‘Plan for the future so you can live in the present‘ is a set of words she tries to live by.

Species abilities:
- Beastkin form:
- Shiso can voluntarily shift into a form that resembles a beastkin, a creature that looks to be a mix between a unicorn and a bovine. She retains her power set in this form, and is mostly just an aesthetic choice or a tool with communicating with other beastkin-adjacent species.
- Future sight:
- Shiso possesses a rare divine mutation – a third eye, located on her forehead – that allows her to see into the near future. She can only see up to a week in advance if she meditates, but more commonly she can only see up to 24 hours into the future.
Meditation:
- Having deeply honed her focus, Shiso is a master of wellness and meditation – as she requires it for her power to work at its fullest. She has stray thoughts on a tight leash, and can quickly center herself in most scenarios when the situation calls.
Relationships
⠀Quill – Childhood friend
Shiso and Quill grew up together, and the two are each other’s most trustworthy ally and friend. As a team, they work efficiently and effectively, and as friends, they have a closeness reminiscent of siblings. Despite both of them generally valuing hard work, the two feel like they can goof around with each other and not feel bad, too.
⠀Hasu – Fellow forest guardian
While Hasu is more like a coworker than a sibling to Shiso, she still considers them to be a close friend who she knows she can trust. They both seem relatively in tune with each other’s style of running things, and Shiso sees no problem with letting Hasu completely take over for a bit if she has business elsewhere.
⠀Carnation – Revered
As expected, Shiso is close with the ‘goddess’ of the shrine – though their closeness doesn’t seem to be just formal anymore. Even if Carnation can be overly-goofy and impish, Shiso finds herself making excuses for her time and time again, caught in a case of disarming puppy love she refuses to admit to herself.
⠀Isabelle – Annoying
Isabelle is the antithesis to all of Shiso’s values, and she just doesn’t understand why Quill keeps humoring her. Shiso thinks Isabelle is kind of pathetic, but not in a cute way.
Trivia
- Shiso will sometimes bluff and say she can read minds in addition to future sight, mostly as a means to intimidate. Her ‘mind reading’ is generally just using insight from future sight to give a lucky guess.
- She’s surprisingly good with technology and mechanics, despite living a low-tech lifestyle.
- She’s never left the Ultra Forest, and doesn’t plan to – which she doesn’t mind.
- Her beastkin form is surprisingly stocky, and can easily trample predators.
Meta commentary
- Shiso’s fashion took pretty heavy inspo from the types of things I used to dress up my SL avatar in.
- Her ability and its ties to the third eye were preliminarily outlined in her specie’s lore – but I did draw inspiration from Satori Komeiji, a bit.
