Takane is an… odd figure. While she may be the most accepted choice for the village doctor, her spotty medical knowledge tends to be a subject of frequent gossip.
After all – even if she may have been a doctor in her past life, there’s absolutely no way she’d be able to remember everything. That doesn’t stop Takane though, who tends to just fill in the gaps of her memory with confidence.
But… it’s really just a well-strung facade.
Takane’s charismatic and confident stride is one fueled by fear – the gnawing sense that before her rebirth, it was her fault that she couldn’t save them.
So, without looking back… Takane is determined to prove herself innocent, no matter what it takes.
Appearance
Takane has an average body type for her species, and is above average in height for an utsuriote – standing at 5’05” (165cm).
Her fur is lime-green in coloration, with intermittent light spotting. Her hair is long and messy with reddish steaks, with whiskers stemming from it. Her horns are small and rounded, and her ears posses a fin-like shape.
The severed tendril that served as her basis is brightly colored and opaque, with fins and coral stemming from it.
Like other utsuriote, Takane does not wear clothing as a humanform would. However, she wears glasses, and is very nearsighted without them.
Takane was designed by Roxen, and joined Ultra Arc on September 4th, 2025

Personality
Even if Takane’s charisma and determined nature come across as ‘shady’ more often than not, she definitely has a knack for persistence. If she wants something or finds a potential lead, she will pursue it. Takane sees no issue with lying to or conning others if she believes it will bring her closer to her goals.
Her mind is a bit of a one-track one, and she has a habit of locking in to one thing so intensely that she’ll ignore other, potentially easier or more important things. Thankfully, Takane is usually receptive if someone close to her tries to shake her out of it and get her back on track.
Story

I’ll get to it… eventually.
Skills
Species Abilities:
- Nihiltoxin:
- Takane, like other utsuriote, has blood laced with nihiltoxin and is immune to its adverse or deadly effects. The nihiltoxin in her body is most densely concentrated within the severed tendril that has grown into her ‘tail’.
- Hydrodynamics:
- The body of an utsuriote is a mix of hydrophobic fur and scales, making them very hydrodynamic for ease of movement in the Ultra Deep Sea.
- The texture of this fur is comparable to river otters.
Medical…?:
- Before her rebirth, Takane was a doctor – a fully fledged one, at that! The memory blackout of her rebirth did quite a number on her skill, but she still remains the most qualified medical professional in the reef.
- She appears to have ‘filled in the gaps’ of her knowledge with relative success so far, though sometimes this uncertainty leaves patients anxious.
Relationships
Inori – Sister
While she can’t really remember who was the older sibling, Takane was quick to recognize and remember Inori as her sister even after rebirth. While the looming cloud of dread regarding the circumstances of how they initially succumbed has put their relationship on a rocky note, Takane cares for her sister deeply and wishes desperately to make things right for her.
Marlowe – Assistant Nurse
Flirtatious and charming, Marlowe was quick to wrap Takane around her finger after the two initially hit it off by their mutual recollection of a medical-field past. Takane isn’t really into Marlowe as anything more than a flirtatious playmate and assistant, but still appreciates her for that role nonetheless.
Wocky – At Odds
While Inori evidently remembered Wocky in some manner, Takane did not. The two try to get along for Inori’s sake, but Wocky’s standoffish and cocky temperament clashes with Takane more often than not. The two figure that even if their past lives may have been connected, they should avoid each other in this one.
Edna – Hiding something…
Edna is hiding something, and quite frankly seems to remember the most out of everyone… Takane needs to know why. Unfortunately, Edna has had more than enough of Takane’s shadiness and has been pushing back… with most others taking Edna’s side, understandably – and bringing Takane under more scrutiny.
But Takane is still persistent.
Minor relationships
Chihiro – Uneasy
Chihiro has made it more than clear that she won’t hesitate to defend the village against any threats, including ones that may come from the inside…
Lately, she’s been giving Takane particular glares, which… isn’t reassuring.
Ego – Indifferent
While one may expect Takane to try and target Ego for information, Takane’s analysis of Ego suggests she may not know much either, and thus isn’t worth her time.
Trivia
- Since the first outside contact with the village was made and trade with the surface began, Takane has been making under the table deals with Ultra Station’s higher-ups regarding nihiltoxin supply.
- While Takane doesn’t mind Inori’s excessive interest in occultism, her overall view of the practice is judgmental at best.
- Takane has a habit of rambling aimlessly while she works – regardless of if Marlowe or a patient is present.
- Unbeknownst to Takane, she is the very reason Ego doesn’t let Mona into the village.
- Which is to say, Mona would beat Takane’s ass on sight.
Meta commentary
- Takane is vaguely inspired by the ‘doctor’ Kasane Teto archetype, made popular by the song Medicine.
- Other vague inspos include Shuu Iwamine from Hatoful Boyfriend, and Medic from Team Fortress 2.
