Years ago, a wealthy gym trainer of Heathome city gym took the Contest Spectacular scene by storm – wielding a powerful and magnificent Hisuian zoroark, the result of a years-long breeding project.
However, the trainer and her zoroark were caught in a deadly vehicle crash at the height of their fame… and while the body of the trainer was recovered, her pokemon was nowhere to be found.
Enter Zhenya. Having admired her former trainer’s lavish lifestyle as a human, she took surviving the crash as a chance to rework her life.
Some thought of it strange that a mysterious woman could show up one day and just become the manager of the Hearthome gym, but Zhenya has quite a bit up her sleeve.
Not only is Zhenya one of the most powerful foxes to be recorded, she also has a bit of an iron grip on the operations of the Contest Spectacular in Hearthome since her change of identity.
And when she senses another fox on her turf, with power that could be related to no other than the Czar of the Mountain…
Zhenya certainly finds it to be an issue.
But are these strange visitors truly foes, or could Zhenya find something else in store from them…?
Appearance
Zhenya is 6 feet tall, with a stocky build. She has a large nose, yellow eyes, and hair that somewhat resembles the mane of Hisuian zoroark.
Her usual style tends to be upscale, but casual at the same time. She usually keeps her nails long and pointed, favoring black nail polish.

Personality
Zhenya is cocky, and definitely has a bit of a superiority complex. Though she mostly remains formal to strangers, she has a very smug way of speaking around anyone she’s talked to more than once.
If she dislikes someone, she’s very quick to get confrontational and intimidating, hoping it will make her opponent turn tail.
She’s very prideful in her power and family history, and though this usually manifests in way of being incredibly smug, she’s capable of using her pride to help others grow, in a way.
After all, the best needs some competition – and Zhenya has been known to mentor those she deems worthy. She can be almost motherly towards her apprentices, but she’ll never admit this.

Skills
Alpha Zoroark:
- While she may be walking the life of a human now, Zhenya is still incredibly powerful – if not the creme de la creme of her kind. She’s skilled in both theatrics and battle, making her a tough opponent.
- She respects Fantina’s wishes of not wanting her to get into many fights anymore… usually. If she feels especially competitive, she’s inclined to initiate a spar.
- While Hisuian zoroark are infamous for being known to hate humans, this is almost exclusively tied to the wild-born population. Zhenya has been around humans her whole life, and in fact, feels right at home living as one.
Management:
- Whether it be keeping a close eye on making sure her city is in good standing from shady outsiders, or keeping the Contest Spectacular in Hearthome running smoothly, Zhenya is a very efficient manager of all sorts… even if she can tend to be a bit harsh.
Relationships
Fantina – Non-romantic partner
Fantina is Zhenya’s closest friend, and might’ve been responsible for pulling a few strings in order to get Zhenya in her current position. Once rivals back in the Contest Spectacular scene, the two like to exchange trade secrets. Fantina sometimes acts as a voice of reason, because she tends to be the only person Zhenya feels is important enough to listen to.
Felicity – Rivals
Vanya and Zhenya’s relationship is… interesting. Initially, Zhenya was convinced it was Vanya who was the Czar’s offspring, due to her soul not reading as distinctly human. But when Vanya turned out to be just a human, Zhenya was only confused more. They have a rivalry going over ideals, with Zhenya believing Vanya to be incredibly foolish. Still, they appear to be seen going drinking together frequently.
Mishka – Student
Zhenya originally thought of Mishka as a threat, being the son of the infamous Czar of the Mountain. But as she got to know him, she started to see him with an air of fondness, similar to how one would see their enthusiastic kid cousin. She’s taken to helping him train and learn more, in hopes her help will let him finally ‘prove himself’ to his father.
Dmitri – Creeped out by
Zhenya doesn’t know Dmitri very well, aside from that fact that he often tags along with Mishka and Vanya and likes to play with the ghost pokemon at the gym. She gets an intensely unsettling vibe from him – and feels he may be the secret trump card among the three friends.
Lune – Admires
While Zhenya has never met or spoken to Lune, she’s aware she exists due to her fame. Still, Zhenya can sense her power, and wishes to one day have an all-out spar with her
Trivia
- Zhenya is rather hedonistic, and is known to frequent bars and order heavier drinks. She also ‘smokes’ incense, in order the strengthen her spiritual perception.
- While she thought of the Czar as simply a rival, her grudge against him got a bit more personal since becoming close with Mishka.
- Her human visage is somewhat reflective of what her trainer used to look like, but not to a point where the two could be mistaken.
- Zhenya had briefly fought Vanya before realizing she was, in fact, not also a fox. In retrospect, she’s quite impressed with how well Vanya was able to fight back and hold her off with just a cane – a move that has made her want to study martial arts.
- The crash was due to intoxicated driving on her trainer’s end. Zhenya attempted to convince them against driving that night, to no avail. While she enjoys living as a human much more, she still misses her old trainer sometimes.
